WEST WALES RAIDERS SIGN 3 WELSH PLAYERS FOR 2019

West Wales Raiders add 3 welsh payers to their 2019 squad, 2 of the 3 have re-signed for the club and one is a new signing.

First of the 3 is Sam Baker, Baker had his first taste of league 1 last season as he moved over to the Raiders from welsh club Torfaen Tigers. Sam had also played for Swansea University, GB Pioneers and Wales Dragohearts before joining the Raiders.

The second of the 3 and another re-signing is Kurtis Haile, as well as Baker, Haile joined the Raiders after playing for Torfaen Tigers and Wales Dragonhearts. Haile last season was one of the top players for appearances in the league for the club.

The final signing of the 3 and a new on for the club is Alex King, King has played for the Raiders in the Conference League South but hasn’t played since. King has played for Wales under 16s and Wales in the commonwealth games gaining a bronze medal for himself.

Raiders head coach Kim Williams added “Sam and Kurtis have been two of the stand-outs at training during our pre-season so far. Sam is overcoming a shoulder injury but his work ethic and determination will ensure that he is competing strongly for a spot come Round 1. Kurtis is another player who continues to impress at training. His attitude and commitment cannot be questioned and I have already seen significant improvement in his skill level and understanding of his role. I am looking forward to watching him continue to develop throughout 2019. Alex has returned to the club after some excellent performances for Swansea University. He covers the key positions of halfback and hooker and has trained impressively since joining the squad a month ago. Alex also has a very good kicking game and I’m sure he will be in the mix for a spot in the top 17 for Round 1.”
